Would you like to change a traditional quilt pattern but are uncertain how to begin? Here are a few simple techniques that work well with four-patch designs and can be adapted with other variations as well.
The first option is to rotate the corner patches. I am working with the Drunkard's Path patch as that is my specialty.
Next rotate the center patches.
Now try reversing the light/dark values of your fabrics, or just two of the four quarters.
A change in proportion often has a dynamic affect on the design.
These are easy ways to begin designing quilts that reflect your personal quilting style.
