One of my favorite ways to finish zippers on bags and fleece is to bind the zipper tape with grosgrain ribbon. It looks great on the inside and on the outside because the seam allowances are enclosed under the binding.
Here is a simple way to set a zipper with binding.

First, lay the wrong side of the zipper on the wrong side of the fabric and sew 1/4" from the edge, back stitching at the ends (figure 1).

Then lay the edge of the grosgrain on top of the zipper, covering the stitching, and edge-stitch the grosgrain ribbon to the right side of the zipper (figure 2).
Now, wrap the grosgrain ribbon around the seam allowance and lay it flat on the right side of the fabric, then edge-stitch it in place (figure 3).
Repeat for the other side of the zipper, and that's all there is to it!
