Burp Cloths can be any size, square or rectangle. Check with the recipient to see what they would prefer.
Use flannel scraps to make the burp cloths. Most mothers and hospitals will welcome them in their nurseries.
Cut two pieces of flannel the same size. With right sides together sew around the piece, leaving about a 1" space to turn the cloth. The opening can be on the side or the end, it doesn't matter. Turn right side out (Turn with a Fasturn to make it easy). After turning, close opening with your method. Stitch as close to the outside edge as you can. Stitch again about 1/4" from the first stitching to make the cloth lay flat after it is washed.
These are quick and easy items to make and mothers will love you for making them.
Options: If you have used plain flannel and you enjoy embroidery, you may want to embroider on one end (or both).
