These designs can be outlined in fabric paint, permanent marking pen or satin stitching. Cut the shapes from fabric and appliqué them to the base fabric. Use your on-hand resources to make these your own unique creations.
Materials Needed:
Your favorite vest pattern, a sweatshirt, T-Shirt, pillow top or book bag
Assorted appliqué fabric
Air-soluble tracing paper
Tracing wheel
Fabric crayons, permanent fabric pens, paint, fabric, buttons, thread, etc.
Embellishing:
Print out a copy of the designs. At a copy center increase or decrease the size if necessary to fit your needs.
Cut the design into elements, for example, the clouds, children, flowers, etc. and set aside.
Experiment making the line drawings on fabric scraps until you achieve the look you want. Be sure to use the actual pen, paint or marker you will use on the project.
Pin the elements to your project.
Check the placement and make adjustments and secure the designs with stitches, glue, etc.
Add details with hand or machine embroidery.
