FLEECE SCARVES AND BLANKETS
By Linda
Beer, Sundrop Outerwear Textiles
NO SEW SCARVES:
Use .15 m of 150cm wide fleece for a child’s scarf and .2 m for an adult scarf.
Creating the scarf can be as easy as cutting off the selvedges. I like to use a rotary cutter and sewing ruler for a nice neat look.
Here are some options:
Use a rotary cutter with a wave or pinking blade.
Create a fringe at either end of the scarf by cutting about 15cm(6”) up into the short ends at .5cm(1/4”) intervals
A no sew scarf is an easy way to add an accent to a favourite garment, to add pizzazz to a plain outfit with a bit of wild print or to make that gift just a little extra special
NO SEW BLANKETS:
This is one of our favourite gifts to give at Sundrop. Without fail recipients have been thrilled. Use your Husqvarna embroidery machine to
personalize or embroider the blanket in one corner.
1.5 metres makes a nice size blanket to curl up on the couch with or drag around the house, great travel size too! Try a lighter weight fleece, it works really well. 2.3metres makes a generous blanket for a single bed. Warning ! As soon as people find out you are making these your life will never be your own again. Be prepared for requests. Want a little fancier almost no sew blanket, read on.
BLANKET INSTRUCTIONS:
This quick and easy blanket is almost "no-sew" and has a cozy, ethnic look.
You need 2.5m of fleece fabric.
Using a rotary cutter with a wave or pinking blade trim 12 inches (.25 of a metre) from one end of your fabric on the crossgrain.
Trim selvages from both pieces.
Fringe up to 1/2 way point of the width (6 inches) on short piece making each fringe about 1/4 inch thick (.5 centimetres).
With wrong side of fringe to right side of blanket, sew fringed piece to blanket piece so fringe hangs in the direction of the blanket. This is the top of the blanket. Because fleece has a right and wrong side, you want to keep right sides of fringe and blanket facing you.
Trim seam across top edge of blanket. You will have a line of stitching and two raw edges.
That's it! Get Cosy!
