This stocking is to be used to put an infant in to be presented to the mother, father, etc. It doesn't look exactly like your run of the mill Christmas stocking.
Using the measurements given, make a pattern, You can use your own creativity to make it look more like a stocking.
You can use fabric tubes, butt the tubes together, sew with a decorative stitch. Sew the edges, leaving the top open, bind the top and you have a stocking. When you use fabric tubes you don't have to have a lining in the stocking.
If you are going to use fabric for the outside and line the stocking you will have to cut two pieces of outside fabric and two pieces of lining fabric. Use whatever method you wish to line the stocking. There is no wrong way. Put a cuff on the top, add a holder, etc.
This is an ideal canvas to use your imagination. you can appliqué on the stocking, use your embroidery machine, stencil, anything that strikes your fancy.
This will be a stocking that is the right size for most newborns. Some hospitals will present the baby to the mother in these stockings in the month of December.
