The New Magic of Fabric Embellishment,
Machine Embroidery, and Appliqué
by Glenda Sparling, Wrapped in Fabriqué™
Glenda Sparling,
president of Ranita Corp., has written other books on fitting and designing, but only in
this one will you find out how to dribble, pucker, scribble, strip, tuck, tunnel, be a
cut-up and do the mélange! What? Is this a sewing book or maybe something you
might do at a party? Trust me, this is a very detailed book that will encourage you
to have fun with your machine, fabric, and threads.
Basics
include machine feet, needles, stabilizers, threads and more. Techniques are shown
in clear line drawings as well as black and white photos. But its the color photos,
especially the close-ups, that make you want to begin creating immediately. Imagine
my pleasure in actually seeing the garments and accessories while attending one of
Glenda's seminars when she was in Michigan last Fall. This lady is a very
polished and organized speaker who easily handled questions during the presentation.
Then she sat and sewed what she had talked about.
Oh, dribbling is a variation of cable stitching,
mélange is the creation of fabric using water soluble stabilizer, threads, yarns, and
fabric bits, and tunnels may be created when stitching tubes together, To learn
about the other terms, rush out, buy this book, and try your version of one of the12
projects. You'll love it!
