This Redwork Penny Square first appeared in a needlework catalog dated 1898. To construct our own penny square, select a 10" square of high quality unbleached muslin. Trace design onto square using a mechanical pencil or red pigma pen. Stitch using 2 strands of DMC 498 thread (one strand for fine details). You can use this with other blocks or make your own small wall quilt.
