Basic ribbon sewing and weaving
instructions:
- Apply 1" and 3/8" ribbons
using Center stitch Guide (see Ribbon Wizard instructions), down center of
handle strip.
- Fold each piece of paper in half,
matching tops and creasing. Apply 3/8" ribbons through Center Stitch
Guide, starting at the top center of each marked strip and sewing to the
other end. Stitch approx. 1" off paper for ribbons to track correctly,
then place paper under presser foot and apply next line of ribbons (see
diagram 1). Do not trim ribbons until weaving is completed. Cut weaving
slits on marked lines.
- Weave strips together by gently weaving
the first inner strips together then hooking in and out each strip in turn
(see diagram 2 and 3). Erase all marked lines and trim ribbons. Adjust the
rows to fit neatly and pull open into basket shape. Using green dimensional
paint, draw stems. With remaining colored paints, draw and fill in flower
heads. Let dry thoroughly before finishing basket.
