Stamping on Parchment Paper
See What is Pergamano & Parchment
Craft Basics for more info!
It is possible to stamp on your parchment
paper with your favorite stamp and save the tracing step by
stamping the image. You are also able to thermal emboss and
perform other rubber stamp techniques on the parchment paper.
This has made the beautiful translucent qualities of the
parchment very popular with rubber stamp enthusiasts!
I have used pigment ink successfully, as
well as permanent inks. You need to let the inks dry, preferable
overnight, before pressure embossing, perforating and painting
the stamped image.
Stamp in the same manner you would on any
paper. Stamps with simple, thin lines seem to work the best.
You dont want stamps with too much
detail or a lot of shading in them. If you have a favorite stamp
that you really want to use, but it has a lot of shading or
detail in it, I would just stamp it on regular paper with a black
stamp pad and trace it onto your parchment paper in the regular
manner, leaving out the fine details.
Stamp your image in white ink to make a
traditional pergamano card, or in brown or black to paint in. The
small stamping cubes work well to carefully ink your stamp with
different colours for beautiful effect.
Experiment with your stamps on the
parchment paper, you will be pleased with the results!
LAYERED EMBOSSED METHOD
A new rubber stamping technique!
Materials
- A variety of rubber stamps (Simple,
small motifs work best)
- Embossing ink stamp pad
- Two different colours of embossing
powder ( I used gold and copper)
- Clear embossing powder
- Embossing Gun
- Work on your pre-cut pieces of mat
board or on a heavier card stock for a card.
- Choose a stamp and repeat the motif
over your surface using the clear embossing ink pad.
Sprinkle on the gold embossing powder. Dump off excess.
Heat with embossing gun to melt the powder
- Choose a different motif and stamp it
over your surface using the clear embossing ink pad.
Sprinkle on the copper powder this time, dump off excess
and heat.
- Choose a third motif and repeat the
steps again, using clear embossing powder. You should now
have a surface with gold, copper, and clear embossed
images. Dont worry if any of these overlap, it adds
to the effect.
- Take the clear embossing ink pad and
ink the entire surface of the piece. Stamp lightly all
over to achieve a even inking. Sprinkle the entire
surface with the clear embossing powder. Dump off the
excess and heat. Your entire surface will be embossed
with a clear, pebbled texture. Experiment with different
colours of powders, different stamps and different
coloured paper and mat board for an endless variety of
embossed surfaces.
