Electric Punch
Embroidery ...
What It Is & What it Does
Barb Keeling, Keeling's Krafts
EASY PUNCH is the trade name for the battery/electric automatic Punch Embroidery Machine invented in 1981. The machine is a modern version of a very old beautiful craft. Until the invention of the Easy Punch Machine, the craft was always done manually, one loop at a time. The machine has taken that tedious process and brought it into the 21st Century. The Easy Punch Machine has made the lovely old craft of punch embroidery faster & easier. It only takes a few minutes to master this easy machine. It is battery powered which makes it portable & with the special adaptor, it is also electric.
It is the only hand held automatic punch embroidery made. Close to two million of the machines have been sold. It is American made and has a full year warranty.
Using regular sewing threads, it automatically punches nice even loops into the fabric. It speeds along at about 500 stitches a minute on batteries and nearly double that speed when it is plugged in. With four different length needles, you can vary the depth of stitches by simply changing the needle. This easy texture change greatly enhance your projects. With the extra large needle, heavier threads can be used for a bolder look.
The supplies you need to do ELECTRIC PUNCH EMBROIDERY can be found in any fabric or craft store. Regular sewing threads can used: cotton, cotton polyester, silk, metallic, rayon, embroidery floss or any thread that will flow freely through the needles. A great way to use up all the left-over threads you now own. Regular embroidery IRON-ON transfer patterns are one the easiest sources of designs & patterns.
ELECTRIC PUNCH EMBROIDERY can be done directly on any tightly woven fabric or done separately and used as appliqus. Uses of the machine are limitless. Decorate jeans, sweat shirts, t-shirts, clothing, pillowcases, pictures, Christmas ornaments, decorator pillows, quilts. Do logos, monogramming and so much more. The finished Embroidery is machine washable & dryable & very durable.
There are loads of fun things you can do with the Easypunch. Projects are so fast and easy since the machine runs on batteries & the electric model runs on batteries and also can plug in with a 3 Volt adapter.
One of my favorite quick projects with the Easypunch machine is to make appliqus or patches. Since the machine uses "normal" sewing threads your options are endless when it comes to thread you can use. The Easypunch will even use "old" thread that our newer sewing machines will NOT use. Just remember with thread "if it flows it goes". I love to do punch embroidery projects for sweat shirts. Just stitch your project on a plain piece of fabric, fray check the back when you are done, then cut out the design. If you want to zig-zag an edge on the patch that looks nice too, but if you don't "do" sewing machines, that is fine. Just passing the info on as one of many options. This punch embroidery patch can be fused or sewn on to anything. This is such a great way to decorate a sweat shirt of T-Shirt. Since the punch embroidery is a "patch" it can be recycled if the garment is out grown or worn out. The punch embroidery seems to "never" wear out. We have pieces we did 20 years ago that still look new. No special care is needed to take care of the punch embroidery. Just toss it in the washer and dryer.
Another easy project with the punch machine is to decorate a piece of printed fabric. Find a neat print that say might have a wonderful flower on it. Punch embroidery the design or part of it, then use the fabric to make up a garment, make curtains, an quilt etc. Kids prints are wonderful for this method too. There are so many darling kids prints. Say one of them as a cute cat or dog printed on it. Punch embroidery the animal which will make it "fuzzy" and dimensional. Again a darling quilt idea.
ELECTRIC PUNCH EMBROIDERY is fun for everyone. From kids to Grandma enjoy this fast, easy, creative way to do embroidery.
It is indeed HAPPY STITCHING ! ! !
